Since entering secondary school, the Author Jamie O'Keefe has been exposed to the supposed school playground ‘Tough guys’ commonly known as bullies. Realising that he needed to learn to protect himself he went on to spend over 25 years within the martial arts initially for self-defence which later progressed to teaching self-protection. Throughout his travels he had much exposure of street fighting from both the position of the victim then later on as an exponent of self-protection. He also spent half his life as a doorman dealing with the violence within Pub's, Clubs, and live music venues within the heart of London's night-life. Throughout his time as both a self-protection instructor and Doorman, he has seen literally thousands of situations where individuals act-like tough guys, or pose themselves as tough guys. Whilst training to become a teacher with Greenwich University, his studies introduced him to the problem solving and line of questioning of the Greek Philosophers, namely Plato.
